Prepare for a career in medicine with unique university preparation courses and distinctive degree programmes

INTO St George's, University of London offers unparalleled university preparation, ranging from English language support to Foundation-level training in medical, biomedical and health sciences.  We also offer degree-level programmes leading to medical and healthcare related careers. All degree and most foundation programmes are taught on the university campus connected to St George's Hospital, one of the UK's busiest hospitals, allowing students to study a number of different courses in a unique clinical learning environment.

What can I study?

INTO St George's provides International MBBS programmes in Medicine with the aim of producing medical graduates with the essential knowledge, understanding, skills and attitudes required to practise medicine competently and professionally in a patient-centred, multi-professional environment, and to equip graduates for a career of life-long learning and professional development.

Our International MBBS programmes provide a strong emphasis on professional and clinical practice with guided support towards the United States Medical Licensing Examination.  Our programme provides students with a Problem Based Learning (PBL) curriculum, expertly incorporating virtual patients and virtual clinics into the learning process to supplement the more experiential, hands-on clinical practice.

If you have completed 13 years of secondary education (or country equivalent), have good grades equivalent to A-level grades of AAA, and have a good standard of English, then you may apply to the BSc/MBBS (International).

The first four years of this course are based at St George's, University of London. In years one and two clinical science is the focus, with biomedical science in year three. At the end of this year you graduate with a BSc (Honours) in Medical Science. In the fourth year you transition into clinical practice and this prepares you for the final two years (five and six) which are spent inclinical practice in the United States and other international locations (subject to validation)

See more information about the International Medicine BSc/MBBS 6 Year Programme.

Starting in 2012, this 4-year MBBS program in International Medicine aims to meet the high demand for qualified doctors while enabling graduates in any discipline to pursue a medical career. Making use of the innovative Problem Based Learning (PBL) approach to education, this programme places the student at the centre of their own learning.

The first two years are spent at SGUL, comprising clinical science in year one and transitional clinical practice in year two.  There will be 18 weeks of clinical attachments during the transitional clinical practice year in London hospitals and general practices that give students a firm grounding for further clinical rotations in the US, and will also allow students to have an insight into the National Health Service (NHS), one of the best healthcare delivery systems in the world.  The final two years (three and four) are spent in clinical practice in the United States and other international locations (subject to validation).

If you have completed 13 years of secondary education (or country equivalent), have good grades equivalent to A-level grades of ABB, and have a good standard of English, then you may apply to the BSc (Honours) Biomedical Science (International).

In the first two years the training programme offers a broad coverage of topics in the biomedical field, ranging from fundamental aspects of cell and molecular biology, through systems-based anatomy, physiology and pharmacology to advanced basic science and clinical laboratory techniques.

The final year provides in-depth study of a wide range of modern topics in the biomedical field, with the opportunity for specialisation according to your interests and future career intentions.

The course prepares you for a range of medical related careers. There is also the option, on graduation and subject to applications/selection, to transfer into the fourth year of the 6 year International Medicine (MBBS) programme, or move into the first year of the 4 year International Graduate Medicine (MBBS) programme.

If you have completed 12 years of secondary education with good grades, then the Foundation is a programme to prepare you for entry to an undergraduate programme in medicine, biomedical sciences or other health related subjects, at St George's or other universities.  The Foundation prepares students through a study of a combination of academic subjects, language and study skills.
