English for University Study focuses on the academic English skills you need to study effectively at University
English for University Study will prepare you for successful undergraduate or postgraduate study at a UK university, or for entry to one of the academic preparation courses offered by INTO City University, London.
As well as studying the core elements of the English language, you will also develop your knowledge and skills in areas such as academic speaking and listening, academic writing, note-taking, research and project skills, report writing, and presenting.
The course will help you adjust to the demands, challenges and expectations of UK higher education. You will also be able to practise your developing language skills in a vibrant learning environment where you can take advantage of the University's additional learning facilities and mix with a wide variety of British and international students.
This course will enable you to develop your knowledge, ability and confidence in a variety of skills that are essential for higher education, as well as giving you a greater command of written and spoken English.

Depending on your level of English, you will spend more hours each week on different modules.
As part of the course, you will receive independent advice and guidance to support your university selection and the process of applying to a UK university.
As long as you have met the academic requirements for your chosen degree programme, successful completion of the course offers:
IELTS 3.0 (with a minimum of 3.0 in writing) or equivalent.
Students intending to progress directly to a degree programme at City University London would generally be expected to have a higher level of English for entry to the course.
You can study for one or more terms, depending on your study plan.

Students must take a minimum of one term. Tuition fees do not include textbooks and other learning materials which are an additional £60 per academic term.

The INTO Admissions office will only process complete applications so please ensure you provide all of the following documents with your application:

The INTO Admissions team will assess your complete application and will contact you within two working days with either an answer or an offer.
Step 3: Confirm your place
If you receive a Conditional or Unconditional offer from us, the offer will contain all the details needed for you to confirm your place on the course.

Once the payment has cleared, you will be sent a confirmation pack from us, including; The relevant course information to help you with your visa application, course and accommodation confirmation, your updated statement and an invoice which will show any remaining fees still to pay before the start date of your course.
Step 4: Apply for your visa

Please keep us updated on your visa application process. If for any reason your visa application is delayed or rejected, please contact us as soon as possible.
Please note that INTO employees cannot give you advice on your visa, you will need to†speak to your local embassy or the British Council.
Step 5: After you've received your visa
Once you've received your visa and arranged your flight to the UK, please contact us to make sure you have paid the full outstanding balance of your course, at least 4 weeks before you arrive.
You will then receive your final statement along with your pre-departure guide, listing all information you need about your chosen INTO Centre, the partner University and what to do when you arrive in the UK.
