A-levels in Manchester

A-levels are the examinations taken by the majority of UK students, as well as many international students, in their final school years. A-Levels enable direct entry on to a bachelors degree at all UK universities, dependant on the grades achieved, and in the case of many of the top universities, performance at interview.

The INTO Manchester A-level programme prepares you for bachelor's degrees in areas such as accounting, politics, psychology, sociology, economics, finance, business studies and maths-related subjects.

What will I study?

The A-level programme is divided into two parts. Year one is known as the AS, and year two is known as A2.

In year one you can choose to study three of the following subjects*:

  • Accounting
  • Maths
  • Politics
  • Psychology
  • Sociology
  • Economics
  • Business Studies

In year two you can drop one of these options in order to concentrate on fewer subjects, but you must continue with Maths.

You will also study the following compulsory modules:

  • English for Academic Purposes (EAP)
  • IT
  • Study Skills
  • Regular tutorial classes

 

*Subject availability may change. Your subject choice will depend on your choice of progression degree and vice versa.

How do I qualify?

Academic requirements:

Six-term: minimum of 5 passes (grades A-C) at GCSE or equivalent.

Five term: minimum of 5 passes (grades A-B) at GCSE or or equivalent.

English requirements:

Six-term: IELTS 5.0 (with a minimum of 5.0 in writing) or equivalent.

Five-term: IELTS 5.5 (with a minimum of 5.5 in writing) or equivalent.

Students who do not meet the minimum English language requirements should apply for English for Undergraduate Study.
Age: 16 years and above.

Tuition fees do not include text books - an additional charge in the region of £160 to be purchased on arrival.

Tracking your progress

Assessment for A-level study is by modular coursework throughout the duration of your studies, and by final examinations at the end of each year of your course. All A-level examinations are taken at simultaneously by subject, so at the same time that you're taking your examinations there will be thousands of other students also doing so throughout the UK.

At INTO Manchester you will receive extensive examination practise, and ongoing support with your modular coursework.

How do I apply?

Apply online

You can apply online by filling out an application form. This application form is accessible through the green 'Apply now' button. You must include scanned versions of all important documents listed below. On receipt of your application we will make an assessment based on the requirements of the course. We aim to reply within 48 hours, although this is dependent on us receiving all the required information.

Important documents

The INTO Admissions office will only process complete applications.

Along with a completed application form, your application package must include:

  • Completed application form, signed by the student applicant or the legal guardian
  • Personal contact details
  • Next of kin details
  • Proposed further study program
  • Copy(ies) of highest academic qualifications latest transcript/certificate original along with English translated version (all documents should be supported with an English version with school stamp or agent stamp)
  • Latest English language certificate/s

If your application is successful, you will receive:

  • An offer of a place
  • Confirmed course dates
  • Indication of fees that will be payable
  • Acceptance form
  • Copy of the terms and conditions
  • Insurance information and application form
  • 'Under 18 years old' information pack (if applicable)


To reserve your place at INTO Manchester you will need to return all application forms mentioned above with £1,000 tuition deposit and £3,000 accommodation deposit. Once received we will issue documents to support the UK student visa process. Full fees will need to be received at least 4 weeks prior to your course start date.
