This course will enable you to develop your knowledge, ability and confidence in a variety of skills that are essential for undergraduate and postgraduate study.
Through studying a range of modules you will develop a greater command of written and spoken English, as well as the academic study skills that are critical for university study.
Depending on your level of English, you will spend more hours each week on different modules.
A minimum of IELTS 3.0 (with 3.0 in writing) or equivalent.
From 6 April 2015, the Centre can only accept a UKVI approved IELTS test for this course. If you have taken another Secure English Language Test (SELT) you may be able to use this as a 'transitional SELT' for applications up to 5 November 2015. Students must take a minimum of one term. Tuition fees do not include textbooks and other learning materials which are an additional £70 per academic term.

On average students are likely to progress at a rate of about 0.5 on the IELTS scale for every 12 weeks of study. So if you only need to improve your IELTS score by 0.5 you need to study this course for one term. If you need to improve by 1.0 IELTS score then take two terms. Please note that these are guidelines only and every student is different.
