Short intensive English language study for students beginning a UEA London degree in January

What will I study?

  • Reading and writing English
  • Speaking and listening to English
  • Giving presentations
  • Taking notes from talks and seminars
  • Taking part in seminar discussions
  • Writing assignments based on relevant sources

You will also focus on subject-related work in your chosen area of study to help you learn how to effectively study independently using online and self-access materials.

 

Where will it take me?

As long as you have met the University's academic entry requirements and any outstanding conditions, successful completion of the Pre-Sessional English course to the English language level required for your degree programme guarantees you entry to your chosen UEA London degree.

How do I qualify?

Academic requirements: You must hold an offer of a place on a degree programme at UEA London.
English requirements:

Only an official IELTS or TOEFL result will be accepted as proof of English language proficiency.

For degree courses that require IELTS 6.5 (with a minimum of 6.0 in each subskill)

12 weeks: IELTS 5.5 (with a minimum of 5.0 in each subskill) or equivalent

8 weeks: IELTS 6.0 (with a minimum of 5.5 in each subskill) or equivalent

4 weeks: Applicants must have achieved the minimum IELTS level required by the relevant School of study, and been accepted onto the course

Tracking your progress

You will be interanlly assessed in all four skills to evaluate whether you have reached the appropriate level for entry to your degree course. Acceptance on a UEA London course is at the discretion of the University.

How do I apply?

Apply online

You can apply online by filling out an application form. This application form is accessible through the green 'Apply now' button. You must include scanned versions of all important documents listed below. On receipt of your application we will make an assessment based on the requirements of the course. We aim to reply within 48 hours, although this is dependent on us receiving all the required information.

The INTO Admissions office will only process complete applications.

Your application package must include:

  • Completed application form, signed by the student applicant or the legal guardian
  • Personal contact details
  • Next of kin details
  • Proposed further study programme
  • Latest English language certificate/s

What happens next?

If your application is successful, you will receive:

  • An offer of a place
  • Confirmed course dates
  • Indication of fees that will be payable
  • Acceptance form
  • Copy of the terms and conditions
  • Insurance information and application form
  • 'Under 18 years old' information pack (if applicable)


To reserve your place at INTO UEA London you will need to return all application forms mentioned above with £1,000 tuition deposit and £1,000 accommodation deposit. Once received we will issue documents to support the UK student visa process. Full fees will need to be received at least 4 weeks prior to your course start date.
