What will I study?

Foundation Mathematics This module covers basic mathematical concepts including algebra, logarithms, quadratics, coordinates, trigonometry, differential and integral calculus, polynomial root-finding, and basic techniques of statistics and probability.
Academic English and Study Skills Improve and develop your skills in academic reading, writing, listening and speaking. By doing practical tasks you will develop the skills to read and interpret academic texts and write academic assignments.
International and Development Studies This module introduces theoretical perspecticves and looks at recent history and current trends in world development. It also covers the evolving structure and role of international institutions such as the United Nations.
Law In order to understand the backgrond of the legal system you will study the constitution and various aspects of law. The module covers EU law as well as the European Convention on Human Rights.
Society and Culture Topics covered include race and ethnicity, gender and sexuality, religion and the mass media. You'll examine contemporary culture, issues related to consumption, popular culture and the influence of globalisation.

How do I qualify?

Academic requirements: You need to have completed 12 years of schooling (or the local equivalent to meet the same standard) with very good grades.
English requirements:

Four term programme: IELTS 4.5 (with a minimum of 4.0 in all subskills) or equivalent.

Three term programme: IELTS 5.0 (with a minimum of 4.5 in all subskills) or equivalent.

Students who have achieved the minimum IELTS score overall but do not have the required score in writing for direct entry will be considered on a case by case basis.

Elite English students and near-native speakers

If your English language skills are sufficiently advanced (above IELTS 7.0) you may be set alternative challenging tasks that further develop your study skills and independent research techniques.

Age:

17 years and above

All students commencing courses on a published September start date must be 17 years old by 31st December of that calendar year. For all other start dates, students must be 17 years old on the published start date of the course.

Tuition fees do not include text books - an additional charge in the region of £160 per academic course

 

Tracking your progress

You will be assessed in each module. Assessment is designed to help you build on our success and meet the requirements for entry to the first year of a degree. Marks from the International Foundation programme do not count towards the final degree but they help the University assess your abilities in your chosen field of study.

You are assessed by a combination of examination and course work, which may include:

  • essays
  • reports
  • practicals
  • exercises
  • group and individual research projects
  • portfolios
  • oral presentations
  • seminar discussions
  • class tests
  • problem solving exercises

Assured progression

Students who successfully complete the International Foundation programme are guaranteed a place at the University of East Anglia. You will also be able to apply to other universities. Assured progression depends upon:

  • successfully completing the International Foundation programme at the levels specified by your relevant school of study. Please download the Progression grades below for specific information
  • attaining a 60% or higher English language score

 

How do I apply?

Apply online

You can apply online by filling out an application form. This application form is accessible through the green 'Apply now' button. You must include scanned versions of all important documents listed below. On receipt of your application we will make an assessment based on the requirements of the course. We aim to reply within 48 hours, although this is dependent on us receiving all the required information.

The INTO Admissions office will only process complete applications.

Along with a completed application form, your application package must include:

  • Personal contact details
  • Next of kin details
  • Proposed further study programme
  • Copy(ies) of highest academic qualifications latest transcript/certificate original along with English translated version (all documents should be supported with an English version with school stamp or agent stamp)
  • Latest English language certificate/s

To reserve your place at INTO University of East Anglia you will need to return all application forms mentioned above with £1,000 tuition deposit and £3,000 accommodation deposit. Once received we will issue documents to support the UK student visa process. Full fees will need to be received at least 4 weeks prior to your course start date.
