INTO offers a range of general English courses that are the ideal way to gain fluency and new skills, focusing on everyday language that you need in different situations.
INTO General English
General English is a flexible option that allows you to choose the duration of your course and how many hours a week to study. You might decide to combine a holiday overseas with the opportunity to improve your English skills. If you stay longer, you will be able to really develop your skills and knowledge, as well as get to know the culture.
The General English course is designed to improve your English in the key skills areas for everyday needs, including speaking, reading, listening and writing, as well as grammar, vocabulary, pronunciation and colloquial English. You will find that learning in an English-speaking environment helps you to develop your abilities rapidly. If your study period coincides with examination preparation courses you may also be able to prepare for a world-recognised qualification in English.
Standard and intensive course versions
We offer two versions of the course:
Standard - 20 lessons per week
Core lessons in language skills, grammar, vocabulary and pronunciation (includes one lesson of guided self study).
Intensive - 28 lessons per week
Core lessons (as above) plus a range of language fluency development classes and at higher levels, optional modules (includes four lessons of guided self study).
As you progress you will know enough to be able to use the language in specific situations and develop deeper knowledge and skills. You will be able to use English with confidence to explore far more complex areas of the language and to research subjects of interest to you. At this stage you can take specialist options in addition to core classes.
INTO Campus Year Abroad
Studying English language for an academic year can really make a dramatic difference to your skill levels, and offers a chance to experience life abroad for more than a few weeks. There is a choice of standard or intensive versions of this course and the opportunity to achieve a qualification in English. You will have time to apply your newly acquired English skills to different subject areas.
This course can be taken for either 24 or 36 weeks, with fixed start dates in September, January and April.
