What made you choose Manchester?
Because I heard about its reputation.  We went this place where if you want to study abroad they find you schools and so we went to the office and they told us about INTO Manchester, and I liked it.  I was going to apply to Warwick as well, but I didn’t know what I wanted to choose to do after and there you have to choose whether you want to do Business or something else before you start the course, and I wasn’t sure if I was going to choose business or something else, but here it’s all mixed, which is good.

What have you enjoyed about INTO Manchester?
I am learning a lot of stuff.  It’s very useful and the teachers are good teachers and I am learning.  When I had to skip a day, I had to study really hard to catch up.  Everyday is good and useful.

What are the teaching staff like?
They’re nice.  It’s not like in Turkey.  In Turkey, when the teacher comes into the room, you have to stand up and you have to respect them, but here it’s like friends, they don’t want you to call them teachers, like in my class I was like “teacher, teacher” because in my country if you called them by their first names, you get like F!  We’re not used to that, but they said “call us by our first name”, so it’s friendly and nice.

What is your accommodation like?
I live in New Matlock House – everyone lives there!  Last year, I was living in Paris and I also stayed in a dorm and it wasn’t like here.  My best friend in Manchester is from my dormitory, so it’s like a nice place to meet new people.

What do you want to do next?
I want to do Fashion business.

Has there been any help/support for you?
I’ve just started my UCAS form – it’s very detailed!  They ask me my first grades!  We’re doing it in classes.  In our IT class and if we need help, our teacher would be there to help.

What do you like about living in the UK/Manchester?
Here, it’s nice – people are nice.  In Paris, the people are cold – I would ask them “do you speak English?” and they would reply “non” in French, so they obviously understand, and when I fell no one would help me, but here it’s different – I like the people here.  And the shopping is good!

What advice would you give to a student coming to study at INTO Manchester?
The first thing they should think about is whether they can manage it.  You have to live away – you miss your family and your friends, it’s not that easy and you’re young.  But if you can manage it, it’s good.  In Turkey I was in University as well for half a year, and I know how that felt and how this feels, and my horizon is expanded and it’s better.
