Last year, I was an A-Level student. After graduating from high school, I decided to study INTO-Newcastle preparation course. A year later, I am so delighted to tell you that my decision was right since INTO-Newcastle University provided a wide range of support for me to become a competent undergraduate student.
I am now studying Accounting and Finance, which is a three-year degree programme. If like me you wanted to study Accounting and Finance then the business and management pathway would be the best for you. It covered not only core theories on Business and Economics, but also essential skills of business mathematics. These skills were quite useful for the demand of university study. With basis knowledge on Business and Economics, it is certain that I can have greater ability to understand professor’s explanations in undergraduate lectures.
Moreover, it has given me a valuable preparation, especially English Language Assistance. It is definitely that essay is a critical part of degree assignments. I am sure you may be a little bit worried about writing an essay. Some of you may do not know how to write or even be unaware about what is an essay. This foundation programme is a good preparation course that covered an excellent module, which is called Academic English. Students not just can develop their Listening and Speaking skills, but also can learn how to write a good essay. For instance, you can equip knowledge in academic writing and avoidance of plagiarism.
Furthermore, there are various useful facilities available to students. Among the university facilities, Open Assess Centre is my favourite. It offers the most diverse English Language Textbooks and materials in the English Corner. Also, there are lots of study desks provided; many of them are installed cassette tape recorders and microphones. Students can use listening materials in Self-Study Corner.
In addition, INTO-Newcastle University provides a multinational environment that students come from different countries around the world. You can possibly meet overseas friends, chat with them in English and also be familiar with diverse English accents.
In leisure time I joined the tours and visited Bamburgh Castle, Holly Island and Tynemouth. These are the famous tourist spots in the northeast. I was so impressive by these attraction spots and started fascinating in northeast England. Hope you love northeast England too!
All in all, INTO-Newcastle University has given a valuable preparation for studying at University. It not just taught me basis skills to tackle with university study; but also, provided a great support to me which similar institutions in UK could not.
