Is Academic English right for me?

The Academic English program at INTO Oregon State University prepares international students for university study in the US. The academically rigorous program provides international students with high-quality English language instruction and the academic skills to succeed at OSU through development of:

What will I study?

  • 18-21 class hours per week, which includes 12 to 15 hours of core language skills development and 3 to 6 hours of electives
  • at least 1 hour per week in the Conversant Program
  • at least 20 hours of directed study outside the classroom in research projects, group projects, learning center activities and daily preparation for classes

Does this program lead to further study?

Academic English students may progress to a Pathway program or direct admission to a university degree program after achieving the language level required and meeting all other requirements.
